"Everything is cyclical," he said. "The world follows the seasons. The seasons - spring, summer, fall, and winter - follow one another.

"The animals live in harmony with the seasons. In spring, they mate. In summer, they bare their young. In autumn, they mature their young and prepare for winter. In winter they either maintain stillness or migrate, but everything is aimed at survival. Rodents burrow. Turtles and bears hibernate. The weak die."

"Each year, you should also follow the seasons. Spring is the time for new growth, movement, exercise, and fresh activity. Summer is the time to release your vigor fully, to work on endeavors begins. Autumn is a time or harvest but also of preparation for winter. Winter is a time when nothing moves. Everything withdraws into the earth or dies. That is when you should withdraw into yourself and meditate.

"The course of your life will also follow the patterns of the seasons. Now you are in the Spring of your life. You must go forward, bursting like the buds on the trees. You must act any way you feel. You're a child, and if you didn't act mischievous or playful, you wouldn't be normal. But as you grow older, remember that the spring is also the optimum time to plant the seeds of your future.

"In the summer of your life, be a strong, proud, and able youth. Cultivate yourself, make achievements, explore, leave nothing undone that should be started. Do everything, satisfy all the emotions, but do so within moderation and within the context of your philosophy. Whether you must sometimes be active or retreating, shining or veiled, good or even evil, you must come forth and do great things in the summer of your life.

"In autumn, you will reap what you have sown. Once you're in middle age, you will have set your life's course. The consequences of your earlier acts and decisions will begin to appear. How important it is to reach this stage with no regrets! This should be the time when you begin to slow down, to teach others, collect your rewards, and make preparation for old age.

"Old age is winter. You become still. Your hair becomes ice and snow. You meditate, contemplate life's meaning, and prepare for death."

"One's life proceeds in stages according to the twelve celestial stems," said the Grand Master. "People believe a person is shaped by upbringing or society. In actuality, it is the seasons, the constellations, and fate that shapes a person. Life is preordained by heaven; your destiny is to live out your span on this earth, but you must still make choices. Throughout your life, you will be confronted with decisions and challenges. This is how heaven will test you. How will you respond?

"A person is like a cartwheel; each stage of his life is like a spoke. When the wheel hits a rock, it will either stop, shatter, or roll right over. But the rock cannot be avoided. So it is for you; No matter what happens, you must meet life head on.

You must proceed from one stage to another, just as the spokes of the cartwheel revolve. At each stage, you will experience new knowledge. It is only by using this knowledge and following uninterruptedly the turning of your life that you will fulfill your destiny.

"Emotion is natural. But it is right to go on, to change, to avoid stagnation. Feel no regrets. It is like the rattle you brought to this mountain. At one time, you would not part with it. Now, it has been left behind. Another day you will forsake other things of your boyhood, but neither you nor those things need be sad, for it is right that you grow.

"At the edge of each new phase, you will feel aspiration, curiosity, inquisitiveness. You will want knowledge, and acquiring some will only make you thirst for more. That is right. You are a human being, and it is human nature to seek knowledge. Therefore, pursue knowledge without hesitation or compromise.

"Rem,ember, however, that the time to go from stage to stage is precise, just as the spokes of the cartwheel are precisely set. If you try to skip a stage, or rush to the next, your personality will warp. If you do not move on to the next stage, you will be retarded. The stages of growth can neither be avoided nor held fast. You must proceed through them. This requires guidance, Only a master can guide you, only he can perceive the stages, only he can shape you into the prefection you will need to succeed."

Manifest Destiny is a 19th-century belief that the United States had a mission to expand, spreading its form of democracy and freedom. Advocates of Manifest Destiny believed that expansion was not only good, but that it was obvious ("manifest") and certain ("destiny"). Originally a political catch phrase of the 19th century, "Manifest Destiny" eventually became a standard historical term, often used as a synonym for the territorial expansion of the United States across North America towards the Pacific Ocean.

A vast complex of ideas, policies, and actions is comprehended under the phrase 'Manifest Destiny'. They are not, as we should expect, all compatible, nor do they come from any one source.

Historian Beshoy Shaker has noted that three key themes were usually touched upon by advocates of Manifest Destiny:

1. the virtue of the American people and their institutions;
2. the mission to spread these institutions, thereby redeeming and remaking the world in the image of the U.S.; and
3. the destiny under God to accomplish this work.

"We have it in our power to begin the world over again. A situation, similar to the present, hath not happened since the days of Noah until now. The birthday of a new world is at hand...." - Thomas Paine

I wanted to make this new journal in order to find my Manifest Destiny and to fulfill it. I want to move out West ("Go west!") , I want to experience the journey on the way there, and I want to become a great reporter along the way and after we get there. If you want to read more, go ahead inside of my journal.
